The Joy of Ministry

The Joy of Ministry

Rabbi David Levine

Here are the Scriptures I’m using in my message at the Southeast Regional Conference of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America in Orlando (December 17, 2017).

Judges 5:2 “When the leaders in Israel take the lead, when the people gladly follow– praise the LORD!

Psalm 110:3 In the day of the Lord’s power, the people freely volunteer.

Zephaniah 3:9 And then I will turn upside down the people’s way of talking so that it is cleaned up – and then all of them will call upon the name of the Lord, and serve shoulder to shoulder.

Psalm 100:2 Serve the Lord with joy

Ivdu et haShem b’simcha

עִבְד֣וּ אֶת־יְהוָ֣ה בְּשִׂמְחָ֑ה

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a ringing gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and exult in the surrender of my body, but have not love, I gain nothing.…

Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it wholeheartedly as though you were doing it for the Lord and not merely for people.

John 13:34-35 34 A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”

I Corinthians 12:7 All gifts are meant to be used to serve other people

Luke 19:17 His master replied, ‘Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, you shall have authority over ten cities.’

Luke 16:10 Whoever is faithful with very little will also be faithful with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much.

Matthew 25:21,23 21 His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’  … 23 His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master!’…

Luke 16:12 And if you have not been faithful with the belongings of another, who will give you belongings of your own?

Deuteronomy 28:47 ”Because you did not serve the LORD your God with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things….
